Productivity While Working at Home
You may be finding yourself tweaking your productivity habits in the last few weeks. If you are working from your home with children around you, you are in for some significant challenges.
As a guy who has maintained a home-based officer for the better part of 30 years, I have some advice:
1) Productivity is not about getting more done. It’s about being more efficient. When working at home, you will instantly have more productive hours than commuting to an office filled with distractions.
2) Holding time for what must be done is essential. Be sure to account for every responsibility on your To-Do list. That includes extra time for kids and pets. You’re going to need it.
3) Rituals, schedules, and taking breaks are your friend. Figure what works best and stick to your plan.
4) Be flexible. When life is upside down like it is these days, you can’t expect every plan to go perfectly. There’s no need for frustration. Take a breath. Deal with the issue. Get back on track.
Most folks have more flexibility than ever when working from your home. As long as you get your job done, everything will be fine. Who knows? You might enjoy it more than you think.
